The Moxie Bee Loves: Stylish, Functional, and Doing Good: Bondi Band wins our vote and you get a chance to win one rockin’ Lycra headband (***SEE BELOW ***).
As a perimenopausal woman, yeah I said it–a woman over 40 (who are you lookin at?) with a renewed interest in working out (love will do that to you) and a wavy mass of thick hair I refuse to chop, I jumped at the chance to review Bondi Bands.
The Lycra Bondi Bands are stylish, comfortable, lightweight, available in a wide range of designs, colors and patterns, and at $8 a pop don’t break the bank. Best of all—their special sweat-wicking material truly keeps the sweat out of your eyes while you run, dance, step, and spin your way to health and fitness. As Bondi Band proclaims: No Slip—No Drip.
Before trying out the Bondi Band, I had yet to encounter a sweatband that could stand up to one of my “power surges”. Don’t let the cute lil Bondi fool you—this baby can take the heat and stay in place.
The Lycra Bondi Bands are so comfortable and stylish you can wear them for everyday, as well as for serious workouts. While test-driving the purple (my fave) Lycra band with fuchsia Bondi Flower, I forgot I had it on, which NEVER happens with heavy elastic bands or plastic bands that tend to pinch.
(I really did forget I had it on, until my little girl started saying, “I wish I could try on that purple flower band Mommy…..”. )
The ‘Sayings” bands are more heavy-duty and can stand up to longer workouts, marathon-style training, or whatever sweat-inducing hijinks you might be up to.
In addition to the Lycra bands and the “Sayings” bands, Bondi makes wicking hats, towels, and wraps for the whole family—men, women and children. The kids’ bands are only $5 and super-cute and are suitable for boys and girls.
The hats, which are made of the heavier stuff, are available in colors and styles for both men and women and run about $20.
In addition to points for fashion and function, Bondi scores by being a company with heart. As Bondi Band puts it, their goal is to “make a great product at a great price and to build relationships one at a time. And as much as we believe in making a tidy profit we also believe in giving back.”
Each year Bondi Band donates 10% of pretax profits to charity. For 2011, they’ve have chosen the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
A Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is a major affiliate of Harvard Medical School located in Boston, Massachusetts.
